Winnie the Pooh (2011)

Daniel's Review

Walt Disney Animation Studio’s last traditionally animated film, to date, and it revolves around a bear, who loves his honey. Any clue? Well, it’s Winnie the Pooh, that’s who!

Being released on July 15th, 2011 in the United States; the same day as ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’, it always made me wonder why Disney released it on that date. The film is delightfully wonderful, and such a shame it was overlooked.

This continues Disney’s critical success, since ‘Bolt’ in 2008. Do keep in mind; I still have yet to see ‘Princess and the Frog’, but it sits at an excellent 85% on that tomato ranking site (Rotten Tomatoes), at the time of writing.

But back to Pooh, this film is very cheery, filled with catchy songs that keep the story moving along. And my word; I haven’t written anything about the film’s story!

Oh silly me! Where shall I begin? Oh yes! One day, Winnie the Pooh was hungry for some honey; but couldn’t seem to find anything honey for his tummy. He stumbles across Eeyore, and just so happens to have lost his tail; or spelled in the movie as “tael”. Christopher Robin creates a reward for the missing tael; a pot of honey.

‘Winnie the Pooh’ is surprisingly funny, and wonderfully crafted; in both its animation and the film’s, simple, but solid story.

My only complaint, the film was incredibly short at 63 minutes; and that is with credits included.

‘Winnie the Pooh’ is sweet, but also a fun story with great characters.
