The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012)

Daniel's Review

The romance/fantasy franchise known as ‘Twilight’ has come to an end with ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’.

The story continues where ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ ends as Bella is now a vampire, with her half human, half vampire baby named Renesmee. But with the Volturi knowing about Bella’s immortal child, they have a showdown between the Cullen’s and the Volturi.

While ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ is slightly more enjoyable than the slow-paced ‘Part 1’, ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ isn’t as a consistent overall film, compared to ‘Eclipse’, as while the film does offer some cool looking action sequences, and an epic battle in the film’s climax that is the best action sequence ‘Twilight’ has shot, the resolution to the said battle is massively disappointing, and for a film that is marketed as “The Epic Finale”, while it delivers on being epic, calling it a finale seems questionable as the film is left open-ended, and not delivering that epic finale status as what ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2’ managed to impress.

The film has a massive cast of supporting players, but the characters were there just so there’s an army for the final action climax.

‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2’ does have moments of action and fantasy elements, but ‘Part 2’ is a bit of a disappointing finale that couldn’t even top what ‘Eclipse’ managed to achieve.
