‘The Jungle Book’ is Disney’s 19th animated feature film in the Walt Disney Animation Studios line-up, released to positive reception in 1967.

 

‘The Jungle Book’ follows Mowgli, an orphan human boy who joins the pack of wolves, but as he grows up, the jungle is no longer safe, escorting by the blank panther Bagheera to take Mowgli, the man cub, to the human village.

 

‘The Jungle Book’ has some terrific music and likeable characters, but the film feels very episodic in nature, and doesn’t have much of a solid story to back-up and at times the film takes a detour, e.g. whatever happened to those elephants in rescuing Mowgli?, however despite this, the film is very enjoyable, despite the slow start.

 

Praises to Phil Harris who brings Baloo the bear to life, as he provides the glue to this film and is always entertaining when Baloo is looking after his fellow man cub, Mowgli.

 

Oh, did I talk about the music? “The Bare Necessities” is an instant classic, with some other great songs such as “I Wanna Be Like You” and “That’s What Friends Are For (The Vulture Song)”.

 

‘The Jungle Book’ is an often entertaining film which has likeable characters and some brilliant songs incorporated, with an emotional conclusion.
