Tangled (2011)

Daniel's Review

Can Disney mix their traditional musical animated films into a CGI animated picture?

The answer is a resounding YES!

I didn’t see this film in the theatre, and after seeing it for the first time last year before seeing ‘Wreck-It Ralph’, a review for later during the week, I wished I did saw it in the cinema.

This animated film is not only great, it’s a wonderfully crafter animated film that anyone can love.

‘Tangled’ was not only a critical success, but a huge financial success grossing nearly $600 million worldwide, making it the second highest grossing Disney movie ever, only just behind ‘The Lion King’.

‘Tangled’ is about a girl named Rapunzel who is nearly celebrating her 18th birthday, locked away in this huge tower by her mother and should never leave the tower as there are dangers outside. But that all changes when Rapunzel meets smooth talk Flynn Rider so that she can see the floating lights, which she ever so dreams about since she was born and their adventure starts there.

This is to me not only Disney’s best CGI animated film ever to date, but in my opinion second to only ‘The Lion King’ out of all the Disney animated films I’ve seen in their 50+ film canon.

The characters are so likeable and is also thanks to their strong voice cast.

The animation is beautiful and very highly detailed.

The script is strong, offering laughs, adventure, drama and some dark themes thrown in there as well. It is also highly engaging and very emotional, which surprised me a lot.

‘Tangled’ has some incredibly catchy songs such as “When Will My Life Begin?” and “I’ve Got a Dream”, but my personal favourite in this movie is “I See the Light”. The song has an amazing track to it and is just an incredible song sung by Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.

‘Tangled’ mixes and blends the two elements, CGI and musical, very well, and is very well directed.

Tangled’ is a must see Disney film and is fun for the whole family.

Highly recommend checking it out as you will not be disappointed.

If you love Disney films, then this one is for you.

In my opinion, deserves to join in the ranks such as Pixar’s films. It is that great.
