I have to be honest, the trailer didn't look interesting and had zero expectations for this film, so you'd be surprised when I walked out with a huge grin on my face.

'Pacific Rim' had everything for a movie - comedy, action and breathtaking visuals that I now dub, the best visual effects in a movie this year, easily.

The movie works hard at balancing the humour with the character development, which it works, most of the time. It has characters you care about and when the action happens, you don't want it to stop.

Overall, this film is close to perfection, but it is a thrilling, action-packed ride that is entertaining, as it is heart warming with amazing visual effects.

This is not Transformers, and has no similarities other than it has robots in it, but Pacific Rim goes up and beyond for a great time at the cinema.

It is now one of my favourite films of the year.

Highly recommend seeing it.
