Muppets Most Wanted (2014)

Daniel's Review

"It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet the Muppets”…

again!

The sequel to 2011’s ‘The Muppets’ which was actually a surprisingly great movie and I wasn’t even a Muppet fan, but it was full of laughter and full of fun. Now it’s time to meet the Muppets again for the follow-up feature titled ‘Muppets Most Wanted’.

It was so great to see the Muppets again after two long years, since it was released in Australia in 2012, and they are still great, but the movie as a whole is a bit of a mixed bag.

The story isn’t as strong as the last film, but since the Muppets are back together, where else can they go?

How about a world tour?

Sounds pretty good, but to be honest it wasn’t as enjoyable or fun as I thought it was going to be.

I actually found the subplot of Kermit being arrested in prison was the best part of the movie, as it was funny, fun and enjoyable as you’d expect a Muppet movie to be.

The songs aren’t as good as the first film, and the songs this time seem lacking the same charm the first film’s songs had, I still remember “Man or Muppet” and “Life’s a Happy Song”. There are still good songs as I found “We’re Doing a Sequel” and “The Big House” were the film’s best songs as they were fun and catchy as you’d expect a Muppet song to be.

Tina Fey was quite funny in her role and I found to be the stand out in the movie as she was really excellent in her role. Ty Burrell and Ricky Gervais were good in their roles as well.

This movie still has plenty of gags and are quite funny, it seems to be missing the Muppet magic and charm the first film had for this sequel to really shine and stand on its own, but it is a good film, don’t get me wrong, it’s still enjoyable and I still love what the Muppets are doing at feature films as there is nothing quite like them in modern cinema today as it is refreshing from all the CGI spectacle people have adopted.
