Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

Rob's Review

The 1993 comedy, starring Robin Williams, Pierce Brosnan, and Sally Field just to name a few, is a movie that you will surely not forget anytime soon.

‘Mrs Doubtfire’ follows Daniel Hilliard (Robin Williams) and his children and recently divorced wife Miranda Hilliard (Sally Field). Miranda Hilliard has been awarded full custody of her children after the divorce, and the only way Daniel has to see his kids on a more regular basis is staying very secretive as he takes up the identity of an old lady by the name of Mrs Doubtfire.

I really enjoyed this movie, it has everything a good movie should have; a good plot, mixed with lots of comedy and a touch of drama, to make it not only a laugh out loud movie but also a bit of a tear jerker.

The acting done by Robin Williams is nothing less than what you would of expected from him, witty and charismatic humour that people have grown to love in this family comedy. As well as his great performance as Mrs Doubtfire was the icing on the cake, or the meringue in the tea.

There is not much I dislike about this movie, and for me will certainly be one of the best films I have ever seen, not only because of Robin Williams, and the comedy; but because I feel this movie captured something not many before it had the ability or even tried to do, create a dramedy with its unified transition between the two genres that certainly makes you think.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, and if you have not already seen it and like Robin Williams’s family movies, do not go past this one.
