Jersey Boys (2014)

Daniel's Review

An adaption of the successful and popular musical Broadway ‘Jersey Boys’, directed by Clint Eastwood.

‘Jersey Boys’ tries enough, but is only a half-decent movie.

The acting performance is pretty good, but the story is a bit all over the place and doesn’t know what the film’s long-term plot narrative is. Which is a bit disappointing as the story seems like it has potential, but doesn’t live up to its potential and at times it does get very slow and very tedious, but it does have its moments where it is at times funny and at times, the drama is excellent, just overall, the film is a bit of a mess.

The music, however, is spot-on and is excellent and terrific, especially Frankie’s vocals, amazing voice. If you’re into The Four Seasons and just want to see their story of fame and low points of their career, you might dig it, as the audience seemed to enjoy the film, more than I did, so it’s probably a type of film you like if you grew up with these songs like “Sherry” and "Big Girls Don’t Cry”, but for me, the film’s faults stood out to me, but it’s not a bad movie, it is a film that just could have been better and could have been an amazing movie.

Overall, it’s fine, but not great, nor spectacular. If you are from this generation who grew up with The Four Seasons, you’ll love it.

Others, you might just enjoy it.

P.S. Stay for the credits.
