Ex Machina (2015)

Daniel's Review

‘Ex Machina’ is about a professional programmer named Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson) who wins a contest with the CEO of Bluebook, the world’s most popular search engine; the Google of our world. Caleb works with Nathan (Oscar Isaac), the CEO of the company, and becomes an important part to his research in artificial intelligence with a robot named Ava (Alicia Vikander).

The story is simple, but is slightly complex, as the film starts out basic, but becomes more complex as the film goes on, and becomes an unpredictable movie, which I liked for its daring conclusion.

The performances are all great, with praises to the film’s three main leads, as they all give incredible performances, which none are too robotic.

The visual effects are great, especially when you consider that this film had a tiny budget of $15 million, for the visual effects the movie has is mind-boggling.

The film has some problems, especially the film’s slow pace, but it gives the film some tension and character development, which I liked.

Overall, ‘Ex Machina’ is a good film that will question which side are you on, humanity or technology?
