'Edge of Tomorrow’ is the movie that many people will miss, despite being one of the best films of the year.
Sad really.
‘Edge of Tomorrow’ may not seem exciting enough from the film’s marketing department of trailers and TV spots, but make no mistake, this film has surprises installed, not featured in the trailers and a unique premise, only makes it the more enjoyable as the film progresses along.
This is the ultimate summer/winter (depending on where you live) movie theatre going experience as it is an edge on your seat type of film, where the film mixes different genres of drama, comedy, action, sci-fi and a high-tech non-stop thrill ride that never has a dull moment.
Tom Cruise is fantastic along with Emily Blunt, these two are perfect in their roles on both acting and delivering amazing action-packed scenes.
My only complaint, the side characters aren’t as developed, but they do have their moments in the film.
Concluding the review, this film is just amazing, great acting, lots of suspense, an amazing script and an action-packed thrill ride that only gets better as the film progresses along.
‘Edge of Tomorrow’ is a must-see theatre going experience as a high quality, enjoyable and engaging thrill ride of a movie.

Don't let the trailers deceive you; 'Edge of Tomorrow' is a truly fantastic film and a fresh take on a well-worn genre. The 'Live. Die. Repeat.' tagline doesn't do justice to the creativity at the heart of its plot. Yes, the plot device is very similar to that of 'Groundhog Day' but the way it is used is what impresses.
Without giving away spoilers it's difficult to say much but this is one of those movies where you walk out still discussing what happened. Think 'Inception', which is another Sci-fi film that expertly balances plot and character. Both films use mystery to enhance plot, and both develop their characters around the central core of the plot device.
Tom Cruise has had a few hits and misses over the years but this is much more 'Mission Impossible IV' Cruise than it is 'Jack Reacher' Cruise. That is, Cruise's commitment and enthusiasm for the role of William Cage clearly shines through with his formidable acting. Emily Blunt is perhaps even better as the rigid Rita Vrataski and her chemistry with Cruise is intense and instantly believable. '
Edge of Tomorrow' does away with the camp that weighs down many original Sci-fi movies, such as last year's 'Oblivion', instead focusing on action, drama and humour. None is sacrificed over the other; while there are several laughs, none of them occur at the expense of the intensity of the action or the realism of the drama. The parts of the film all work together as one complex whole.
Visually, it is as spectacular as is taken for granted these days but the enemies here are particularly creepy and memorable, the stuff of nightmares. Seriously, zombies, vampires and werewolves look tame compared to these creatures. I would place them on par with the antagonistic monsters of Ridley Scott's 'Alien' on the creepiness scale.
Perhaps most of all, what 'Edge of Tomorrow' excels at is pacing. Considering its entire hook, its astonishing that it doesn't once feel repetitive or boring, and that's because director Doug Liman only shows what's important to the overall narrative, trimming out the unnecessary parts until we're left with a fast-paced, breathless, exciting action movie that is a better video game movie than anything that was actually based on a video game. I felt Cage's every frustration and shared in his triumphs. And just when you think it's all over...well, you'll have to find out for yourself.
I for one enjoyed the hell out of 'Edge of Tomorrow' and wish there were many more films like it.
Watch the film. Love the film. And repeat.
