Carrie (2013)

Daniel's Review

'Carrie’ based on Stephen King’s 1974 novel based on the same name.

The film stars Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore.

I have seen a ‘Carrie’ movie, don’t know which one if it was either the original one or the TV movie, but I do know most of the story and even with that in mind, it still surprised me, maybe because I don’t know much or remember most of what happened in the other ‘Carrie’ movie I’ve seen.

From the get-go, Chloe Grace Moretz does a good job at her acting performance as the title character Carrie, as she was definitely the highlight of the movie as she steals the show, well she should since it is her movie. I feel like Julianne Moore did a fine job as Carrie’s overprotective mother, but felt she could have done a lot better job, but she was fine, she was believable as Carrie’s mother.

The visual effects are pretty good, especially the last half of the movie. Mind boggling.

The script and the story is solid, but not as strong as it could have been, which let the film down a little bit, but it wasn’t boring, it is an enjoyable movie, and if people can’t take horror like me, this film isn’t relatively that scary. There are a couple of little scares, but nothing that will make you fly popcorn into the air scary.

I had no expectations, but it nicely directed, a sweet at times movie that leads to scary situations to characters and visual effects are pretty good with some great acting and a good, but could have been better, script, which does feel like something is missing, but nonetheless, if you have never seen a ‘Carrie’ movie or have, it is still a worthwhile movie, still worth viewing.
